"I Gave You Life, and You Gave Me Strength"
  • "I Gave You Life, and You Gave Me Strength"

Every life is deeply connected to life around it. This is especially true within families. I was thinking about the connection between mother and child when I painted this piece, but I think that the sentiment I intended it to convey applies to many kinds of relationships. Personally, I have never experienced motherhood, but I still feel that my life is permanently connected to future generations. The thought of children still to come--my own or otherwise--gives me a potent sense of courage and motivation. In this way, the unborn change lives before they enter life itself. I find this inspiring. Also inspiring is the selfless service of mothers, fathers, and caregivers of all kind who sacrifice for the little people in their stewardship. They, too, provide courage and motivation to a tired world.
